O Wines was established in 2006 by Stacy Lill and Kathy Johanson.

Our Mission: fund scholarships for low income, high potential youth.

Our Vision: establish a local Academy for motivated young girls otherwise unable to realize their dream of a higher education.

Our Goals: donate a portion of the proceeds from O Wines to fund scholarships and build their dreams.

Our Dream: stop the cycle of abuse of women who were not afforded the privilege of higher education due to their economic circumstances.

Kathy and Stacy are so pleased to introduce to the world 18 year old Angel Paullin, the FIRST ‘Opportunity for Success Scholarship’ recipient! Our partners at the College Success Foundation selected Angel based on our established scholarship criteria.

CRITERIA: 1) must be US citizen, 2) must maintain a 2.75 GPA at senior year (state law), 3) must accept a mentor through the educational process (Stacy & Kathy are mentoring Angel) 4) no pregnancies, 5) no drugs or trouble in school (if the child is having trouble with the educational aspect of school we will help with tutoring), 6) the family must fall within the established financial need guidelines, 7) young girls may apply for our scholarship as young as 11 years old.

Our "Opportunity for Success Scholarship" is unique in that our girls can participate in education in any way they choose. Knowing every person is not cut out for a 4 year college education, the child receiving our scholarship has options. If she wants to go to a 4 - year university that is fine, if she wants a 2 - year degree - okay, if she wants to go to a trade school - it's great! We want these kids to know there's hope for "their" educational future. Everyone has different dreams - we want education to bring your dreams true. Angel wrote in her application essay she had dreamed of becoming a medical doctor since the age of 12. She dreams of beginning a free-clinic for children in Rwanda some day. We at O Wines look forward to following Angel’s brilliant educational endeavors and career. Angel has been accepted at Northwest University in Kirkland. Stacy and Kathy will be mentoring Angel.

Due to the support of our volunteers, distributor - Columbia Distributing, and all of YOU, O Wines funded a total of 4 Scholarships in their first year of operations! On December 10, 2008, owners, Stacy Lill and Kathy Johanson awarded a BIG check to their partners at the College Success Foundation. Three girls will be selected based on O Wines' criteria and presented to the owners in July, 2009.

On July 21, 2009, Kathy and Stacy had the privilege of meeting three amazing young women – all with incredible stories to tell – all with dreams of success through obtaining a college education.

Adrianna Droz is a graduate of Kamiak high school. She is currently attending Central Washington University, thanks to O wines! Her goal is to get a double degree in Physical Therapy and Music Appreciation and eventually a doctorate in Physical Therapy! Adrianna has actually been invited to perform at Carnegie Hall TWICE! AMAZING Adrianna! She is a trumpeter! Adrianna’s mother, Shelley Droz, is playing an active role in supporting O Wines. On October 2nd O Wines was a part of a fund raiser for Everett Community College called Gusto! We never would have heard about this opportunity to spread the word about our cause and wine if it hadn’t been for Shelley investing her time and energy in an effort to help other young women hear about our scholarship. SO big thanks to Shelley! Power to mothers!

Marleny Dominguez is a graduate of Cleveland high school. She is currently attending the University of Washington. Her dream is to graduate with a double degree in Nursing and Communication. She’s already had a lot of experience taking care of her younger siblings being the oldest of 5! Marleny has been an advocate of education volunteering her time in high school tutoring other students. She considers herself a motivational advisor to other kids in school who are looking for guidance and support. She has also been part of a Leadership class helping to plan school assemblies and utilize her social skills to raise funds for the student store and functions throughout the year. Marleny is a leader and a winner! WAY to GO Marleny!

Ange Agliam is also a graduate of Cleveland high school. She is actively attending Washington State University with the hope of graduating with a Public Relations degree. She was the MC for the Filipino American Student Association banquet to help further awareness of the organizations’ mission. Ange’s dream is to become an event planner for large scale events world wide. O Wines owners have many connections here in the community and as a result were able to get Ange a job interview with WSU’s scholarship fund raising organization. Ange got the job! And will be on the team to help with the event planning for WAZZU’s annual fund raiser scheduled to be held at Chateau Ste. Michelle winery in Woodinville on January 30th, 2010! A great fit in every way – CONGRATS to Ange!
